“Venezuela and Cuba have to resist, it is a commitment with our history, with Bolivar and Martí”, stated Cuban president Raul Castro to close the X session of the Intergovernmental Commission between both nations, which was in session at the Convention Centre, the joint statement by the delegations of both nations was passed by the last working day and included the presence and speech of Commander Hugo Chavez Frias, president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Raul said that the incorporation of the respective agencies in charge of economic planning, provides a new quality of bilateral ties, which is expressed in a long-term and more comprehensive in complementing economies.
Cuba-Venezuela agreement, stated Raul, has become a dynamic factor of cooperation in which participate dozens of institutions of both countries. Cuban president also pointed out that current results allow confirming that the key areas of economical and social development of both nations are linked in one or another way to new kind cooperation, a concrete expression of unity and integration among the peoples.
Venezuela is at this moment our first trading partner, a result that has been made possible due to the role of the social missions, an unprecedented model in favor of the poor and needy.
Raul quoted words of the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro in one of his recent reflections, in the sense that now, when Bolivar’s nation which Marti asked to serve is more threatened than ever by imperialism. The organization, work and efficiency of our effort must be greater than ever not only in health sector but also in other cooperation areas.
Raul expressed that in the present world there are great challenges for the human being survival. It will also be out epic to keep hope alive. Venezuela and Cuba must resist, it is a commitment with our history, with Bolivar and Marti, with the peoples of our America, he concluded.
Hugo Chavez, president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, stated that his country and Cuba strengthen their Revolution process.
At the beginning of year 2000, he recalled this mechanism of cooperation is unprecedented in the world because of "the levels we achieved in almost a decade."
At that time we have approved 17 modest projects, but today the figure is 285 for a value exceeding three billion dollars.
Chavez congratulated for these results vice-presidents Ricardo Cabrisas and Rafael Ramirez from Cuba and Venezuela respectively, who signed today the respective documents for cooperation in computing and communications areas, basic and sugar industries, transport and others.
The texts include eight joint ventures, an act of commitment to the creation of a joint entity on food and two Memorandums of Understanding relating to civil aviation and the primary activities of exploration for hydrocarbons.
Chavez drew attention to the need for any of these projects should be "cool" for purposes of bureaucracy, but must be the opposite, we must build momentum, he said. This forces us to hurry, to overcome and defeat bureaucratic and financial obstacles, he added.
