Cuban president, Raúl Castro, attends to the plenary session of 8th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of the People's Power, in which the economic lineaments of the country will be analyzed, among other important issues, for the next year and the State budget for 2010 will be approved.
The examination of both documents includes the statistics of closing year in the domestic economy and the budgetary execution of the current year. These projects were previously discussed by the deputies in the meetings of the standing committees of work carried out Wednesday and Thursday.
MEMBERS OF THE PARLIAMENT PLEAD FOR SPREADING MORE CUBAN REALITY
The 91 parliamentary groups of friendship constituted in the Assembly agreed on Friday to strengthen even more their work in spreading the Cuban reality among their colleagues in other latitudes and contribute much more effectively to the international campaign in favor of the Cuban 5.
The deputies, assembled in groups belonging to each geographical areas, analyzed the work corresponding to 2009 and the perspectives of their future work with other Parliaments.
They highlighted the need to take advantage in any scenario, in order to confront the distorted campaign against the island nation, orchestrated by the US imperialism and its allies.
In 2010, they will give special attention to the battle for the release of the Cuban 5, who are imprisoned in U.S. jails and, in particular, they endorsed the words of Ricardo Alarcón, President of the National Assembly of the People's Power, in gathering all their wills to achieve the freedom of Gerardo, Ramón, Fernando, Antonio and René.
The deputies who make up the parliamentary groups of friendship with other legislative bodies in North Africa and Middle East, approved a supporting declaration towards the cause of the Saharan people.
Liaena Hernández, the youngest Cuban deputy, read the document that calls lawmakers around the world to demand the immediate implementation of the UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions, in which the self-determination of Western Sahara is recognized.
The declaration finishes giving support to the struggle of Sahara-Polisario Front, the Saharan National Couincil (Parliament), and the leadership of Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Democratic Saharan Arab Republic. (Taken from Granma and PL/Translated by Gualveris Rosales Sanchez).
