
Alll Cubans to Call on May 1st
May 1st celebration will represent another revolutionary event and it is also to reaffirm and denounce those who are against our nation, this relevant day the Cuban people will support throughout acts and meetings all over the country that they are part of this Revolution.
Cuban will march to the Revolution Square to deny United States government and the European Parliament who have accused our nation to violate human rights. The parade also will establish Cuban people’s commitment to support and actively participate in the building of Cuban society and our economical model, which guarantees the continuity of socialism in our nation and the preservation of our national sovereignty.
On this occasion more than 200 members of 32 nation members of the World Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba, who are visiting the island to attend to the main activities for the national event and reaffirm its support to the Revolution.
The first International Workers Day was held in 1980, and the state of siege was ordered by the Spanish colonial authorities. The parade was made in La Habana and participated about 3 thousand workers and fulfills the agreement of the International Congress in Paris a year ago.
The first parade was in 1925 also in the capital city and was attended by 40 thousand people; it happened in the middle of a general strike which demonstrated the strength of the Cuban working class.
In 1937 May 1st events have great connotation because the official announcement was” For the Unity”. The parade took place in the moment in which the movement was reestablished after the repression suffered when the strike on March 1935. The situation was still difficult, thus the
press was threatened and the right to meet and organize was prohibited.
Lázaro Pena, general secretary of Confederacion Obrera de Cuba spoke to the multitude in a combative parade to announce the 60 main demands of the working class and it constituted an important element in the road to the unity, which was supported with the creation of the Cuban Workers
Federation (CTC).
In 1959 took place a parade at the Plaza Civica (at present, Revolution’s Square). The parade started a t 11 am and finished about midnight. It was the first time the working notifications to support t the newly government.
Some of the slogans at that time were: “We support the revolutionary government”, “We ask for military training for the working class” and “Thanks Fidel”.
Such precedents and the ones created before in these 50 years of people’s power, the workers will march this May 1st, with their flags and their convictions to support the revolutionary process. Cubans will take up the main squares all over the country to demonstrate our social project with
the slogan” Unity”.
May 1st, will represent a truthful demonstration of our convictions and ideas. Cuban Revolution is from the humble, to the humble and for the humble.
