Three Cuban journalists have received their Doctor in Communication Sciences degrees; this is the first time this academic degree has been granted to full time professionals of the media. Zenaida Costales from Radio Rebelde was one of them. She not only thanked the professors but also to her co-workers, who covered her workplace when she needed it.
I am happy because I am going to teach to Journalism students and this is a way to repay all this help, preparing the new generations for the Radio in Cuba, she expressed.
The Director of Prensa Latina News Agency, Frank Gonzalez and journalist of the Cuban Television News System, Maribel Acosta also received this academic degree.
An outstanding journalist, Maribel Acosta said that the relationship between journalists and research implies necessary transformations in the communication process and called on journalists to be fueled by the theory in order to include these references into the current praxis, throughout the revolutionary perspective we have reached, she added.
Havana University has granted 87 new doctors in specific sciences and 3 Doctors of Sciences, the highest academic degree granted by the Republic of Cuba.
During the graduation ceremony, held in the Main Hall of the bicentenary institution 24 colleagues from 9 countries and 63 Cubans, of whom 22 are professors and researchers of the University of Havana, received their degrees, as well as 39 professionals from other institutions.
