The sounding began on May 5 near Maiquetía airport in Caracas, Venezuela, and continues throughout 5 340 km from Siboney beach, Santiago de Cuba.
In the second stage the cable will reach 200 km, which includes a route from Jamaica to Aguadores, according to Ridley Thomas; the undersea cable is one of the projects of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) that will provide a significant improvement in the communications of both nations.
