Cuba condemned the Israeli military attack on flotilla with humanitarian aid in international waters for the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry expressed to know with concern the criminal attack by Israeli army special forces on May 31, which killed and wounded several members of the flotilla, and called upon to the international community and loving peace peoples to demand to Israeli authorities the immediate lifting of the illegal, ruthless and genocide blockade against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The statement also said that Cuba wishes to send the relatives of victims its deepest condolences and reiterates its support and solidarity to the fair cause of the Palestinian people and its inalienable rights, including the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Security Council Condemns the Attack without Mentioning the Responsible Ones
A report by Prensa Latina today warns that the Security Council of the UN needed 12 hours of negotiations tto deplore the attack by Israeli forces against a fleet support for solidarity with Gaza, without mentioning the person responsible: the Israel government.
The aggression occurred on Monday in international waters was repudiated by a large number of nations, governments and international organizations, but diplomatic sources indicated the existence of strong U.S pressure to try to calm soften the tone of the condemnation to the Israeli operation.
The negotiations began late on Monday chaired by Lebanon, and concluded early this morning led by Mexico, which went on to head the Security Council at the beginning of June. Almost two hours after, the forum of 15 members released a text of repudiation of the action and demands for fast, fair, credible and transparent investigation in accordance with international standards.
