Trinidad received the participants to The XI National Information Encounter from the Cuban Radio

The XI National Information Encounter from the Cuban Radio took place in the city of Trinidad, in the central province of Sancti Spiritus. The Information directors from all radio stations attended the encounter.

The participants were received in Trinidad; it was really hot there. After travelling over five hours by bus, they went first to Radio Trinidad radio station to say hello, and then to the craftsman street, also called the miracles´ alley, where the Santander family make beautiful clay pieces in nice workshops, these valuable objects are part of Trinidad’s patrimony.

This part of the tour we made was the best thing that happened to us  the first day of the national encounter. Then the participants went to the builders’ village, where there were huge crabs and toads, a complicated subject to speak for those frightened woman attending the encounter.

The encounter lasted two days. Directors from the radio specially talked about those aspects needed to be readjust and developed. Director of Haciendo Radio show from Radio Reloj station talked about shows direction and insertion of propaganda at news shows. He also stated about the importance of people responsible for radio stations training.

Pedro Martinez, a representative from Radio Habana Cuba station, asked for creation of programs based on specific examples of actions carried out by Cuban people, which discredit media campaign, as well as fallacies of reactionaries sectors from European Union and The United States.

Director of Information and Propaganda Department from Cuban Radio Yuzaima Cardona stated about time at news bulletin and quality of broadcastings. She said that as all radio stations have their own news bulletin, there is certain time, in which all of them broadcast the same information and this way the programming at the radio becomes boring. Cardona stressed the need to check the schedule of airing at all radio stations in order to avoid such incongruity. 

In the second working day, there was a great discussion about Maria Salome Campanioni´s work, a specialist at the Cuban Radio. It deals with audiovisual media and social nets. She stressed the necessity of making up specific computing programs to make communication more viable through Internet. She explained how new technologies like cell phones make communication faster, as happened in Haiti, when the earthquake devastated the city. In this case there was any other option for people all over the world got informed about such tragedy but cell phone.

Jorge Morado closed that encounter with his intervention. He talked about writing at the radio, as well as at web site from the radio as a system of integration designed to broadcast news and shows of all kinds for the entire world.

Finally, participants went to the ARTEX´s house, a cultural centre, where they enjoyed a Caribbean simple spectacle as an entertainment to close the Information encounter.
