Cuban Parliament condemns Gerado confinement
President of Cuban Parliament Ricardo Alarcón denounced confinement Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, one of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly incarcerated in the United States, is being submitted to.
Alarcon said that Hernandez is being holed up since July 21, and negotiations of contacting the prison authorities as well as State Department aimed at clear the prisoner’s situation have been fruitless.
The Parliament president described Hernandez’s situation as very serious, because he is inside a two per one meters cell together with another prisoner, where there is hardly ventilation.
The US government acknowledges that Hernandez has complained of pain to be examined since April, and was given an appointment for July 20, in which was diagnosed as having health problems that need treatment.
According to the doctor, the problem probably has to do with a bacterium that has started to expand among prisoners, even there have been some serious ills; although he is not sure whether this is Gerardo’s case because he was not made blood tests and was taken into the hold next day of be seeing by the doctor, Alarcon explained.
Alarcon added that Gerardo also has problems with blood pressure and feels worried for the prisoner’s health that needs especial attention, mainly due to his confinement inside that hole, as temperature there exceeds 35 degrees.
We are denouncing this plight. We have tried to negotiate through all possible ways, but there is no answer; so the National Assembly of People’s Power has to declare itself against the situation, Alarcon noted.
It is strange; this is the third time that Gerardo is taken into the hold, during his imprisonment, admits appeal proceedings.
