
Cuban Parliamentmembers asked for better services for population
12 permanent commissions, created at the Parliament Assembly, met at the Convention Center with the participation of top officials such us: vice-president of Councils of State Valdes Ramiro Valdes Menendez, who called to raise problems as an integration thing, in order to gain clarity and this way find better solutions.
During his intervention at the commission of Energy and Environment, Valdes urged the necessity of increasing measures of saving electricity and stressed that more control by those mass organizations in charge of reducing energy consumption in the residential sector is needed.
Valdes also passed a project about the current Code of Road Safety, based on the Cuban rules and some international advanced experience, which will be put to the vote at the Cuban Parliament next Sunday.
President Ricardo Alarcón condemned today the confinement of Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, one of the five Cuban antiterrorists unjust incarcerated in the United States, from the Convention Center.
Ramon Pez Ferro, who is in charge of International Relations Commission, informed that the National Assembly of the People’s Power keeps relationships with others from 120 countries as well as 93 groups of solidarity with Cuba.
Minister of Finance Lina Pedraza, who participated at the Economic Affairs Commission about the execution of the State budget in the first semester of the year, made clear that only in case of material deficiency in the real economy; there have been a low level of expenses.
Members of commissions of locals Organs of People’s Power asked for better attention to the complaints and suggestions of population; meanwhile those of Industry and Construction analyzed performance of hydraulic resources as well as investments underway in this sector in order to face the results of drought and guarantee water supply for a bigger amount of Cuban families.
Likewise, some Parliament members stressed the crucial contribution of the media, mainly radio and television to develop the Cuban society, education of moral values, as well as welfare and spiritual richness.
This was the subject scheduled to be discussed at the opening of fifth period of legislative sessions of the Cuban Parliament over two days by Commissions included: Care for Youth and Childhood, Equal Rights for the Woman, Education, Culture, Science and Technology.
