
Cuban deputies will discuss Political- Administrative Division Law
Cuban Parliament deputies discussed today the proposed amendments to the Political-Administrative Division Law, which dates from 1976 and a draft opinion on the new Road Safety Code, these documents will be under consideration of all the plenary on Sunday morning.
Meeting at the Havana Convention Center, the president of the Urban Planning Institute, Graciela Rodriguez explained that for several years a State Commission has studied the appropriateness to make territorial adjustments in order to achieve greater effectiveness in the performance of government structures and administration as well as the benefit of the population and the economical efficiency. The provinces of Havana City, Havana and Pinar del Rio, the municipalities of Varadero, Cardenas and Matanzas and the northwest of the capital city, and the country's easternmost region, known for Manuel Tames, Yateras and Guantanamo and would be subject to variation.If approved, each province would have its own capital, and clarified that none of the cases the population will have to paperwork on ID card, driver's license driving, vehicle registration or other, or be injured in basic health services, education and social security available.
Saturday's working day Cuban parliamentarians included an evaluation of the results of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and Legal opinion on the bill of the new Road Safety Code, aimed primarily at increasing prevention and education about traffic accidents.
Jose Luis Toledo Santander, president of that working group reported that it is also a priority the attention of the complaints of population, mainly related to the disagreement with
the judgments, decisions on housing, immigration status as well as management and administrative litigation.
In the meeting, Minister of Justice, María Esther Reus announced that the project develops a legislative program and a diagnosis of the rules which should govern its organizations of the State central administration.
The Commission for Assistance to Services of the National Assembly of the People’s Power , through its president, Juan Jorge Castro referred to the action taken on proposals and claims the population with regard to consumer protection, quality products and the role of the repair work shops , maintenance and electrical appliances.
Tomorrow morning, the Cuban Parliament, in addition to rule on the two bills will evaluate the settlement of State Budget execution in 2009 and the level of response to complaints, requests and suggestions of the population.
