Fidel Castro sent a message to Internationalists Returning from Bolivia
Dear combatantsfighters for the health of people born with diminishedimpaired capacity:
Yesterday I signed the 213 copies of Por todos los caminos de la "On all the roads of the Sierra: La victoria estratégica (All roads lead to the sierra: the The strategic victory)" with today's date, for when you return home for a short break.
You have been faced trulywith really severe cases, such as people human beings who were are born blind and deaf, and have never seen a ray of light, nor heard a sound; people who . That is, they have had no contact with life despite being born. These, and these two simple senseselements are enough to feel happy, sing and communicate with others, or simply to , alive.
The people you treat, suffering fromcarrying a wide range of adversities, rewardsufferings, pay you back with the happiness that comes from of doing good —, something that all the gold in the world cannot buy—, and demonstrating how human beings can go. This demonstrates that the human being beyond theirhis instincts to can become a symbol of generosity and virtuegoodness.
This is the only way to describe
Nobody could explain your tireless battle, in the face of extreme struggle otherwise, facing the heat, rain and hazards; through forestswoods and swamps; and defying the cold and snows of steep mountains, to help those people who could not do without you, as today you can not do without them.
Within two weeks you will departleave again, this time not from [Bolivia] to the land where [Che Guevara] the heroic guerrilla fell, but but from Cuba to Ecuador, as a reinforcement battalion of reinforcements from Cuba, but from Cuba to Ecuador, where for many months other compatriots who for many months have been immersed in the same battle, working along with doctors from that brother country.
Our force, which has brought happiness to close toabout 800,000 people in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, is but a wisp of what can be done by the peoples of this hemisphere and around the world without charging a single cent for it. The most important aspect of this endeavorthing is the example tothat young people have been left, who, together with you, have begun to undertake this task within their own nation and in other countries.
Throughout its history the [US] empire has not been able to, nor could it ever, assist even one percent do the same, with 1% of this figure. What use is such a system?
This
That is why, with so much pleasure and as a brother, I have signed my signature next to the name of each one of you.
Onward to victory!
Fidel Castro Ruz
