Raul Castro receives President of Guinea-Bissau Malam Bacai Sanhá
Guinea-Bissau and Cuba aim to boost relations with the current visit to Cuba by President Malam Bacai Sanha.
The distinguished guest will start his official program of activities on Tuesday, including talks with his counterpart and host, Raul Castro.
After arriving in Havana, Sanha stated that the main objective of this visit, the first of his current mandate, was to promote relations between the two nations.
Answering a question from Prensa Latina on the possibility of signing agreements on this occasion, the president did not rule them out, explaining that it depended on talks with President Raul Castro.
The Bissau-Guinean president came to Cuba in 1996, when he held the post of president of his country's National Assembly. Guinea-Bissau and Cuba established diplomatic relations in October 1973.
On this occasion, he was accompanied by Soares Sambu, minister of state for political and diplomatic affairs, and Angelo Agusto Regalla, minister of state and presidential spokesman, and other government officials.
