Commander in Chief Fidel Castro
Commander in Chief Fidel Castro will speak on Tuesday in the mass meeting organized as part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs), which will take place in front of the former Presidential Palace, in the same spot where half a century ago he called the people to create the largest mass organization in Cuba.
Thousands of CDR members in the capital will gather in the historic square at 8:00 a.m. to listen to the words of the Cuban Revolution leader, which will be broadcast live by Cubavisión and Cubavisión Internacional television channels, and by the Radio Rebelde and Radio Habana Cuba radio stations.
With their blocks more beautiful and adorned to mark the date, the Cuban CDR members have carried out different activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs), among them the awarding of the Neighborhood Prize to voluntary blood donors and to those who have excelled in various tasks, like the cleaning of the streets.
Likewise, they have demanded U.S president Barack Obama to use his power to release Fernando, Rene, Antonio, Ramon and Gerardo, the five Cubans imprisoned in the United States for 12 years now for fighting terrorism.
