With the experience characterizing Cubans in terms of Civil Defense and in view of the proximity of Hurricane Paula, Pinar del Rio residents get ready to face possible damages.

Pinar del Río is in the Hurricane Watch stage since Wednesday morning and at the time of writing this note the Provincial Civil Defense Council assesses measures to be adopted in the territory to safeguard human lives and economic resources.

Since Tuesday, due to the imminence of heavy rains and strong winds, hydro meteorological watchfulness in mountainous regions, low-lying areas near rivers, streams and coastal settlements has been increased.

At this moment in time, measures to reduce risks and vulnerabilities are adopted.
