Fidel Castro sent a message to the members of the island’s national baseball team

The leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro sent a message to the members of the island’s national baseball team that will participate in the Intercontinental Cup of the sport that begins on October 23 in Chinese Taipei.

Minutes before leaving Havana, at the Jose Marti International Airport, Dr. Antonio Castro Soto del Valle read the text of the message and gave each of the players a copy of Fidel Catsro’s recently published book ‘The Strategic Victory’.

According to Granma newspaper, Fidel also sent a special message to former shortstop German Mesa, who is now an assistant coach of the squad.

Mesa said it was very encouraging to receive the communication from Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

The national baseball team traveled to Canada, from where they will continue to Chinese Taipei. In their tournament debut they will face the Czech Republic.
