When in a few hours (on Tuesday, October 26) the U.N General Assembly once again declares itself to be against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, it will not only reaffirm the isolation of the greatest imperialist power in the world and its Zionist ally, Israel, but also its disrespect for the rules and principles of International Law.
The lack of credibility of the current administration of Barack Obama, the increase of his unpopularity day by day, the plans along with its strategic partner in the Middle East to lead the world to a nuclear war, and in particular the conditioning of any relaxation of that criminal policy to the so-called reforms by the Cuban government, does not allow us to be that optimistic even though we wanted to.
In short, it wouldn’t be a surprise that once again Washington and Tel Aviv rejected the repeated request of the international community, which will undoubtedly be another major diplomatic defeat for them when they realize that very few states yield to their interests.
Recently, Obama told Spanish media outlets that Havana "has not produced the kind of political and economic freedom we would like to see," referring to the fact that he considers the release of counterrevolutionary prisoners and the economic measures adopted by Cuba insufficient, of which he only cares about those related to the increase of private property or those constituting "an opening" to establish capitalism in Cuba -a wild one, of course.
Actually, his statements demonstrate lack of information, since he ignores that the updating of our economic model will stick to the socialist system chosen by the Cuban people and its leaders for half a century now, and not to the market.
Let’s recall that on September 3 the President himself extended for another year the ban on U.S. companies to do business with Cuba, an already routine issue for the occupants of the White House, in conspiracy with the Cuban-American mafia.
Time and time again, Cuban authorities have expressed that although the U.S. imperialism and the media at its service try to offer the world the image that the government of Barack Obama has relaxed the blockade, the truth is that it remains intact and that its criminal essence has not changed.
Almost daily, and particularly more and more over the last few weeks, both in Cuba and in the rest of the planet, people are aware of the countless acts of solidarity taking place to condemn that siege, and that although material damages caused to the country are horrifying, the losses of human lives are even more worrying, and the damages derived from its impact on health, in the quality of life of the population, countless.
Regardless of the isolation in which the U.S. and Israel will once again be plunged into at the UN General Assembly, the battle for the cessation of that economic war will continue, until one day the White House understands that one defeat after another -as the one predicted for October 26- advise to comply with the fair demands of the international community and to respect the rules and principles of International Law.
