
Presentation of the book “The Strategic Counteroffensive”
The book by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro entitled “De la Sierra Maestra a Santiago de Cuba. "La contraofensiva estratégica” (From the Sierra Maestra to Santiago de Cuba: The Strategic Counteroffensive) was presented in several historic places of the liberating route followed by the Rebel Army, and had its high point at the Céspedes Park of the city of Santiago de Cuba, according to a report by the local CMKC radio station.
During the presentation, Commander of the Revolution Guillermo García, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, stressed the value of the those who played a leading role in that heroic deed and of the Cuban people, which continue writing new glorious chapters of heroism: “A few hours ago we won another great battle” asserted the Commander of the Revolution, while referring to the international support the Cuban resolution against the US blockade of the island received at the UN General Assembly.These books should be studied in depth, stated García in Santiago de Cuba; our youth should know the history of its heroic people and its greatest sons.
Attending the presentation of the book “The Strategic Counteroffensive” were Lázaro Expósito, member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Communist Party in Santiago de Cuba, and Radamés Sánchez, a combatant of the Rebel Army that entered Santiago on January 1st, 1959.
“The Strategic Counteroffensive,” popularly known as the second Book-Testimony by Fidel, was presented in the towns of Jiguaní, Guisa, Baire, Maffo and Palma Soriano, and it’s the second volume complementing the first book published by the leader of the Revolution under the title “La Victoria Estratégica” (The Strategic Victory).
