
Raúl Castro announced the 6th Congress of the PCC for the last two weeks in April, 2011
Cuban President Raúl Castro announced that the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) will be held during the last two weeks in April, 2011. The announcement was made in Havana during the ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Cuba-Venezuela Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement.
Raúl highlighted that this important meeting of Cuban communists will be carried out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs) Victory and of the proclamation of the socialist nature of the Cuban Revolution.
The 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party will focus on the solution of economic problems and the updating of the Cuban economic model, and will adopt the economic and social guidelines of the Party and the Revolution.
Prior to the meeting, a process of popular debates will be held from December 1st, 2010 to February 28, 2011, taking as a starting point a document on the country’s political and social guidelines, which will be on sale as of Tuesday in all newspaper stands, at one peso each.
The Cuban President participated, along with his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chávez, in the meeting to mark the 10th anniversary of the Cuba-Venezuela Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement, held at Havana’s Convention Center.
