A million ATEC Company Haier TV sets are being made in Cuba with the view to develop digital television, announced Manuel Barreras, head of Digitalization Department for Radio and Television.
“The use of high technology TV sets, like those Chinese-made sets, is one of the steps taken in Cuba to implement the so-called land digital television (TDT), “said Barreras.
Manuel noted that the key would be to make both digital and analog TVs until Cuba can substitute the traditional transmission system, which it probably will be achieved in year 2020.
“We want to reach the audience and also to be in the vanguard of modern technology,” noted Barrier, who highlighted the benefits to assemble the TVs at the Cuban Electronic Industry Company (IEE), according to Prensa Latina Agency. He explained the EIE will follow the same style of work used, when assemblying a million Chinese Panda TVs, which have been in great demand for their quality and price.
Barreras added Cuba will manufacture four kinds of TVs: those of Cathode Ray Tubes CRT screen -21 and 29 inches-, those of Liquid Cristal Displays (LCD) -26 and 32 inches- the two latter in manufacture phase, meanwhile the country does not have the TDT at the audience’s disposal.
EIE Director Radames Candebat, said the company is involved in the design of a TV system meeting Cubans’ demands, and it is also getting ready for the creation of an export capability.
Radames announced that EIE is planning to manufacture TV sets with an appropriate quality-price ratio, as well as a post-warranty system to ensure spare parts for a ten years
.
“We are clear about manufacturing TV sets with the required provision, not including unnecessary facilities that would make the sets more expensive, “said the executive after concluding they will be TVs with the appropriate technology.
