Cuba’s national TV program "La Mesa Redonda (The Round Table) will send out a message by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to the Cuban students, on the occasion of the International Students' Day and the fifth anniversary of his historical speech in the Aula Magna at the University of Havana on November 17th, 2005.
The International Students' Day is observed to honor a group of Czechoslovakian young people who, decided to free their homeland from Hitler’s yoke, starred on November 17, 1939 a heroic resistance on the streets of Prague, the capital of this European country.
So, to pay respect to that brave action, the International Students' Council - that later would become the International Union of Students – proclaimed this date as International Students' Day, a historical event that is observed in more than 114 nations.
