Tomás Piard´s documentary about Lezama
Trocadero 162, Bajos, is the title of the documentary Tomás Piard is starting to shoot about the great Cuban writer José Lezama Lima, whose one hundredth anniversary is being celebrated this year.
According the producer himself, the movie will reflect the last period of time of the life of Lezama and his posthumous novel Oppiano Licario. The action takes place at home, in that same address in Havana, where he lived from 1929 until his death in 1976 and which is today a museum, where Lezama locked himself at the end of his life.
Even though it is a documentary, the movie will include a cast integrated by Fernando Hechavarría, Carlos Solar, Sergio Buitrago, Mariam Curbelo and Sergio Fernández. The novel and essay writer Reynaldo González and the poet José Moreno del Toro will also take part in the movie.
The work team will be composed by people recently graduated from the Faculty of Audio-Visual from ISA, such as Yoanis Rodríguez, in direction of the production; Vladimir Barberán, in direction of photography and Dafne Guisado, in sound design, among others. There will also take part people with much more experience, such as Daniel Diez Jr. in edition; Juan Piñera in music and Esther García Mariño as the executive producer. There will also take part students from the fifth year of FAMCA, who undertook their pre-professional practice in the mentioned movie.
This documentary is yet another tribute from Piard to the author of Paradiso. A few years ago, he premiered the full-length fictions movie El Viajero Inmóvil, which was a polemic but enriching approximation to the greatest work of the Cuban writer.
