Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez dared CNN news channel to interview the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters serving unfair lengthy sentences in US jails, without the interference of the imperial manipulations.
"I’d like to see CNN interviewing the five Cuban heroes they call terrorists," said Chavez during a ceremony in which a group of women symbolically swore to defend the fairness of the upcoming parliamentary election of September 26, reported the Presidential Press.
Chavez criticized on Wednesday an interview with terrorist Raul Diaz, a fugitive of the Venezuelan justice, by journalist Patricia Janoit—one of CNN en Español’s top presenters—and said she had demanded her right of reply via the social network Twitter, Prensa Latina news agency reported."I challenge you to interview one of the Cuban Five—as they are internationally known—incarcerated in the United States. This is not about me, Mrs. Janoit. It’s about a people’s dignity," he said.
Diaz was found guilty of placing bombs in the embassies of Spain and Colombia in Venezuela in 2003, and was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment. Janiot, however, introduced him as a student seeking refuge in the United States.
