“President Rafael Correa: I would willingly die defending Ecuador
“In case something happens to me; my boundless love to my homeland and my family.” These were the words President Rafael Correa told Ecuador’s Public Radio, in an interview recently broadcast to the entire world by the Telesur television network and the Radio del Sur station, while locals gathered at Quito’s Independence Square to support their president and defend the democracy attained by way of popular vote.
“I would willingly die defending Ecuador, said Correa, who stated that the situation was the result of a permanent conspiracy of opposition sectors. “The vast majority of the police loves us and supports us, but these plans to destabilize Ecuador began to be prepared a long time ago. There will be thousands of Rafael Correas to defend the homeland in case of assassination,” stated the head of state.
Telesur has been broadcasting all the details of the coup attempt against President Correa; and reported that since the early hours of Friday morning 150 members of Ecuador’s Armed Forces have taken the airports.
