Port-au-Prince, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) It seems that Haiti will finally hold a presidential election runoff after meetings between local authorities and members of the international community.
Officials of the Provisional Election Council (CEP), the head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), Edmond Mulet, and other diplomats stationed in Port-au-Prince attended the meeting.
Mulet backed suggestions made to the CEP for an OAS commission to oversee the runoff, according to local media.
The CEP organized two five-member courts, comprised of three electoral advisers and two lawyers, in charge of analyzing the appeals of candidates.
The official results of the first round are to be announced between January 31 and February 2, in order to schedule the runoff for that same month.
