Haitian radio station "Radio Kiskeya" dedicated a special program to the life and work of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí. The program was presented by Cuban resident and program director, Veronica Dorcine and its guest was a Cuba’s Embassy diplomat in Haiti, Yordenis Despaigne.
During the transmission hour, the Cuban official addressed some of the essential facts related to the revolutionary, political and literary career of the Apostle of the Cuban Independence.
She highlighted that since Marti was young, he suffered from the regime's oppression. When he was only 16 years old, he was sentenced to imprisonment and forced labor.
His efforts to reorganize the rebel forces which participated in Cuba’s uprising 1868) , his role in planning the 1895 war and its Latin American thought, were also among Marti’s issues reported in this program..
The radio program aired the eventual activities to be held in Cuba as part of Jose Marti’s Day marking the 158TH anniversary of the Apostle’s birth.
The special program in the Haitian radio is part of a group of actions undertaken by the Cuban mission in Haiti, to publicize and commemorate the extraordinary work and revolutionary thought, whom was considered to be the mastermind of the 1953 Moncada Garrison Attack, led by the then young lawyer, Fidel Castro.
