The sixteenth International Book Fair in La Paz, Bolivia, started in the Officers Society of the Bolivian Army. The event was attended by representatives of different countries such as Cuba, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia as well as the launching of 40 new Bolivian  books.

The Bolivian Minister of Education, Roberto Aguilar said that our lifes have been closely linked to the reading that we have access to with the difficulty, when we will not find a wide circulation.

The Minister of Culture, Elizabeth Salguero welcomed to the participants. She stated that this is an intercultural fair in which it can see face to face our cultures on equal terms thanks to the editorial publishing houses that demonstrate their commitment with their inclusion.

Since 2003 La Paz has raised reading as a Cultural Heritage of the city.

This Fair annually includes workshops and lectures by the participant writers, and about 1,000 new books are published annually.
