Raúl Castro Ruiz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba made the opening remarks of the Eighth Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the peoples of America, a mechanism of coordination and economic integration that meets in the Conference Center in Havana.
This morning arrived to the Cuban capital presidents Evo Morales from Bolivia and Daniel Ortega from Nicaragua, to participate with the diplomatic representations from Cuba, Venezuela, Honduras, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, and Dominica, in the high-level regional meeting.
After working hours of the experts and foreign ministers, the meeting must approve a final declaration and another on Climate Change, among other texts previously analyzed from a technical and policy advice that comprise the foreign ministers.
The Latin American and Caribbean meeting of social and economic integration, coincides with the fifth anniversary of the creation of ALBA, a strategic alliance that defends the culture, identity, and solidarity among peoples, an alternative model of resistance to subordination and annexation U.S. seeks to establish its Free Trade Area of the Americas.
ALBA thrives between our peoples for cultural integration, economic and social development, and ensures special and differential treatment to the needy. It is a large Community of Exchange and Cooperation between Latin American and Caribbean Peoples.
