ALBA, a hope for Latin America

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America, ALBA, which barely five years ago burst into the continental panorama as a Revolutionary and unprecedented initiative has achieved concrete and encouraging results, in a short period of time.

Inspired on Simón Bolívar's ideology, this mechanism of regional integration was established, on December 14, 2004; when Cuba's Fidel Castro and Venezuela's Hugo Chávez, signed the agreement in Havana, the day that marked the 10th anniversary of Chavez' first visit to our Homeland.

Since then, the new leaderships in Latin America have kept strengthening this process of continental transformation, which gains strength, as  myriads of people, then forgotten, are benefited now in their own nations.

The mechanisms of collaboration of the ALBA are far off any intention of influencing or of meddling in the domestic affairs of other States, where the political courses - even when are not coincidental - come together in a common denominator: development of the national economy, more equity and social justice

At present, it is clearly-defined that the ALBA expresses a new age, in the context of the Latin-American international relations, confronting its realities -on the base of unity and solidarity-, to the neoliberal globalization, praised by the big capital and the unlimited voraciousness of the U.S. empire.

At this height of events, the Bolivarian Alliance has exceeded its initial goals in the sectors of education, public health, culture and sport; and it expands its collaboration projects toward other spheres.

The economic ties strengthen and nations that, till recently were the officially provided raw materials to the developed World, have given the established "order" a significant shift. 

The Summit that in Havana draws the new courses of this portion of the planet, in a context of planetary systemic crisis, undoubtedly will be another ascending moment towards harmony and concord, praised by the greatest men of this hemisphere.

In the current days, it is a fact that the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of our America made possible a dawn for the hope of the nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are witnesses and protagonists of crucial moments, which ratify us Fidel Castro's visionary belief, when he said: A BETTER WORLD IS POSSIBLE.
