In a message read by President Hugo Chavez to those present at the closing session of the 8th Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA) Summit, Fidel Castro Ruz, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, warned that the Copenhagen Climate Summit is the most important political struggle in memory.
Chavez described as generous, the messages sent by Fidel in which he recalled their first meeting at the University of Havana’s Aula Magna (main lecture hall) 15 years ago. At the time, said Fidel, your ideas had led you to struggle for the independence of Venezuela from the imperial tyranny.
Such unfair differences should disappear, in the current times it is a major shame, ideas you and I sustain are shared by millions of Cubans and Venezuelans, pondered over the Commander–in-Chief Fidel Castro in a letter sent to Hugo Chávez.
Fidel thanked the Bolivarian leader for his unconditional support to Cuba during the special period, and also praised the revolutionary and sincere friendship, even after the coup on April 2002 and the oil coup. “The Bolivarian Revolution will never be forgiven for its support to Cuba," Fidel emphasized on the letter.
The empire is striking back again, and mentioned as examples the coup d'Etat in Honduras and the deploy of US military bases in Colombia, remarked Fidel.
For his part, Chavez commented on his first meeting with Fidel, told some stories about his first visit to Cuba, for eventually deem himself a Bolivarian socialist-marxist-christian.
