A news dispatch by Prensa Latina highlighted that, in an UN General Assembly session which analyzed the plight of the sibling Caribbean nation, the Cuban permanent ambassador to that body, Pedro Núñez Mosquera, warned that the collaboration and medical aid should not stop. He added that this aid should be based on respect to the sovereignty and national integrity of that country, and not on the interference on its domestic affairs.
Mosquera also repeated the willingness of his country to cooperate together with all nations in order to help the Haitian people, noted Prensa Latina news agency. Along with the Cuban aid workers, more than one hundred of specialists from different countries like Venezuela, Nicaragua, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Canada and 17 Spaniards nuns are also working in Haiti.
The Cuban medical collaborators have already seen 14 551 patients, while other 1 252 Haitians had undergone surgical operations until January 20th.
