The inauguration of  Radio del Sur by Bolivarian president Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias, whose first broadcasting was this February 25th in the afternoon from Venezuela, has been an integrated event of people, culture and hegemonic rebelliousness; it was attended by heads of state from Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Daniel Ortega from Nicaragua and Evo Morales from Bolivia.

The voice of Cuba in this integration project, which unite hundreds of radios stations allied in the American continent and other parts of the world like Africa and Asia was heard through his ambassador in Caracas, Rogelio Polanco, who recalled with touching words the relation between Cuba and Venezuela dates from more than 50 years and has reached the peak moment when Venezuelan revolutionary men supported the struggle of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro in the Sierra Maestra, before 1959.

Polanco also recalled the role of Radio Rebelde , Cuban radio station founded by Fidel and Che in the Cuban mountains in the pre-revolutionary stage, who brought the light of freedom and truth to Cuba and the world, a mission that is today Radio del Sur set to become a worldwide  radio station.

Pedro Martinez Pirez, an experienced reporter of the Cuban Radio, National Radio Award and José Martí Journalism Award participated in the inauguration from Radio Havana Cuba, a radio station, which broadcast through its short waves the inauguration of this new space against the imperial hegemony.

In his exchange with Venezuelan President, Martinez Pirez stressed that Radio Havana Cuba has broadcasted radio and television program Alo Presidente from March 2000, which has meant a record number of approximately 2,500 hours of broadcasting, according to estimates performed live by Chavez.

Chavez had a conversation for more than two hours with several colleagues of the world on behalf of the radio stations which will be part of Radio del Sur, an initiative in favor of the permanent, perpetual and lasting unit as Venezuelan president stressed.

At the close of the program, Chavez received a telephone call from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, who claimed to have followed the transmission from the beginning and welcomed the noble idea of the creation of Radio del Sur , another initiative against the ant imperialist struggle more struggle and the unity of our nations.
