ONU Women will stand for an indestructible alliance for the women rights

Cuba described as a historic step the creation of ONU Women, an agency of the international organization which will assume the functions to address issues related to the women and the gender.

Rodolfo Benitez, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, stressed that the decision meets the commitments made in 1995 with a view to achieving gender equity and empowerment of the females.

The diplomat's statements were made with the adoption, after four years of negotiations, the resolution on Consistency of the United Nations system, whose most important component is the establishment of UN Women, said.

A press release of Prensa Latina also stressed that the Caribbean state boosted the most of the guiding principles of the agency and, in particular, that of universality, to ensure the advancement of women in all countries and regions of the planet.

Likewise, he reiterated the intention of the island continue to actively promote gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls in the world.

Finally, Benitez underlined the commitment of Cuba with its implementation and also called for full transparency in the work of the funds, programs and specialized agencies of the international organization.
