Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, president of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
“I am announcing that I will be on July 26 in the revolutionary Cuba, in that great day, when the country will hold an anniversary of the attack to Moncada Garrison, accompanied with Raul Castro and Fidel Castro and the Cuban people,” Chavez said at a graduation of officers form the National Bolivarian Police (PNB).
The Venezuelan President termed ridiculous those opinions from the opposition that accuse him of having turned Venezuela into a Cuban colony.
“Venezuelan Bourgeoisie is attacking hard to Cuba; the most recent fabrication is that Venezuela is a colony of Cuba, ” he stressed after suggesting the publication of an article called: Ridiculous things from the Venezuelan Bourgeoisie.
“Cuba is a free country, Venezuela is a free country too, they are two free countries and both are joining efforts as member countries of ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas), “Chavez added.
During the ceremony broadcast on TV, Chavez, labeled as the leader of socialism in the century 21, affirmed: “You are not surprised if Fidel considered by him a political father, shows up here anytime.”
“Thanks Cuba for your support”, the president exclaimed and affirmed that he has plans for signing new bilateral economic agreements with Cuba on educational and health sectors, within the context of ALBA.
According to Chavez, ALBA is a regional initiative sponsored by Venezuela and based on principles like solidarity and complementary economy, not competitiveness. Member countries of this initiative included Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominic and Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines.
