Many people worldwide joined the campaign of solidarity with the Five Cuban anti-terrorist political prisoners in the United States for almost twelve years.

Students of higher education were gathered in the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo to demand the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González: The Five, as they are internationally known.

The media reported that the participants expressed their concern about the health conditions of those patriots, subject to violations of their rights and methods against the human being dignity.

The Five Cuban antiterrorist fighters were arrested in Miami in September 1998, absurdly accused of espionage and sentenced to severe prison terms in a rigged trial in which they found no guilt whatsoever.
