Cuba reiterated its demand on the U.S. violation of the judgment of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and condemned its disrespectful behavior with regard to the ruling on the appropriation of trademarks.
Cuba’s ambassador to Geneva, Rodolfo Reyes elaborated on Section 211 of Washington’s Omnibus Appropriations Act of 1998, which was disqualified by the WTO Dispute Settlement System (DSS).
The diplomat stressed that the U.S. disdain for the system will not undermine Cuba’s determination of not giving up in its struggle in defense of justice.
He ratified that along with other WTO members, Cuba will continue demanding respect for the DSS decisions until the universal empire of law prevails over the hegemonic pretensions of the superpower.
Among the most outstanding speeches in support of Cuba were those of the representatives of Brazil, the Dominican Republic, India, China, Bolivia, Venezuela, Vietnam, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador and Angola.
All of them questioned the absence of progress in this case as a result of the US behavior, and pointed out that the prolonged failure to comply with the ruling of the competent organ of the WTO for the solution of conflicts undermines the credibility of the entire system.
