Cuba marks today the 180th anniversary of Carlos J. Finlay’s birthday and the 80th anniversary of the institutionalization of the Día de la Medicina Latinoamericana (Latin American Medicine Day) with the biggest graduation in medicine: 11,000 physicians, of whom 5,315 are Cubans and the rest of them are coming from 59 countries.
It is well-known the services of health Cuban doctors have been providing in many countries around the world, and it
constitutes a pride for all islanders. The harsh geographical and hygienic conditions, in which these doctors have to live when providing such medical care, have not been an obstacle for them to save lives.
Cuban First vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel attended on Sunday the Jewish celebrations known as Hanukkah or Festival of the Lights at the Grand Synagogue of the Cuban Jewish Community in Havana.
According to Granma newspaper, minutes before the traditional ceremony kicked off, the top Cuban government official met with the President of the Jewish Community in Cuba, Adela Dworin. The meeting was also attended by members of several Jewish communities in Havana and by the head of the Communist Party's Office for the Attention to Religious Affairs, Caridad Diego.
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution that agrees to set November 2 as the International Day against Impunity of Crimes Committed Against Journalists website reported www.cubaperiodistas.cu
The resolution of the UN General Assembly condemns any attacks and acts of violence against journalists, workers in the media, both in conflict zones and in areas with a non- conflict situation.
