The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro held a fraternal meeting on Saturday, in Havana, with Argentina’s Diego Armando Maradona.The former soccer star arrived in Havana last Friday after having visited the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, where he paid honor to Hugo Chavez and met with acting president Nicolas Maduro.

The President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Government, Army General Raul Castro, sent a message of congratulations to Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro upon his victory at Sunday’s presidential elections.
In his message, Raul congratulates the newly elected president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the Cuban people and government and he noted that Maduro’s significant victory stands for the strength of the ideas and work of Commander Hugo Chavez.
Raul said that Maduro’s victory and loyalty to the people will guarantee the continuity of the Bolivarian Revolution and Latin American integration.
The candidate of the Bolivarian Revolution, Nicolas Maduro, won Sunday’s presidential elections in Venezuela with 50.66 percent of the votes counted thus far, according to the National Electoral Council (CNE).Once the vote counting is already irreversible, Maduro got 7 million 505 thousand 338 valid votes against 7 million 270 thousand 403 votes garnered by his main rival, right-wing opposition member Henrique Capriles, said CNE president Tibisay Lucena.
Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s Acting President said today in Caracas that there are reports of a high turnout at the elections this Sunday in Venezuela.
After exercise his right to vote at a polling station in Catia, west of Caracas, he said his election campaign was characterized by love of country, the Revolution and the Venezuelan people, Telesur reported.
