Jose Ramon Balaguer, member of the Secretariat of Cuba's Communist Party Central Committee and chief of its International Relations Department received the African diplomatic corps accredited in Havana.
According to Granma newspaper, Balaguer advocated commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the African Union and the historic, cultural and blood bonds between Cuba and Africa. He also stressed the permanent cooperation links between the island and African nations in the social and economic fields.

Cuban farmers mark National Campesino Day on Friday as they reaffirm their commitment to an increasing production of food for the people.The central ceremony marking the date takes place today in the western province of Artemisa, where farmers will pay tribute to their countrymen, who attacked the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons in 1953.

The Cuban Pastoral Platform supported on Tuesday in a proclamation the need for the five antiterrorists’ family reunification, “to put an end to an injustice unnecessarily extended in time.”The text was released during a patriotic-cultural meeting held at the Resurrection Chapel of the Evangelical Theology Seminary (SET) of this city, 100 km east of Havana, the Granma newspaper reported.

The foreign ministers of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez, and Zambia, Effron Chakupa Lungu, ratified the historic bonds between the two countries and the possibilities that exist to strengthen them, during a meeting held on Tuesday morning.The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affaire highlighted that for the island the deepening of bonds with that African nation, consolidated since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1972, was a priority, the Granma newspaper reported.
