Raul saluted Chavez and remained respectfully silentArmy General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, paid on Thursday posthumous homage to Commander Hugo Chavez on behalf of the Cuban people.
 
At the Simon Bolivar hall of honor of the Military Academy of Venezuela, where the mortal remains of the Bolivarian leader lie in state, Raul was accompanied by Venezuela's interim president Nicolas Maduro, relatives of Chavez, and other heads of state that will take part on Friday in the state funeral.
 
While standing before the coffin, Raul saluted Chavez and remained respectfully silent. The statesman greeted Elena, mother of the deceased leader, his daughters and son, and his brothers in a special way. He also greeted Uruguayan President Jose Mujica and his wife, present in the hall.
