Guillermo Pavón Pacheco y Yusimí González inaugarate XXXIINational Radio FestivalThe working days of the XXXII National Festival of the Cuban Radio took place in Matanzas with debates and criteria interchanges in a theoretical event which deals with the specialized perspective of the daily work of scriptwriters and writers, as well as the need of increase the participative radio, which objective is to improve the radio from a more and creative process.

Guillermo Pavon Pacheco, vice president of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) stated the participation of about 150 workers of the media from all over the country in Matanzas, who on behalf of their awarded staffs, debate, reflect and agreed tendencies for 5 million of daily radio listeners, the current number of people.

This Tuesday morning the event was characterized by the congratulation to CMKC radio station for its 80 anniversary and the welcoming to the Athens of Cuba by Maritza Cruz Viera, director of the radio provincial system and the praiseworthy of Idelfonso Acosta, outstanding music of the province and author of the sound identification signal of Radio 26.

The high responsibility of the radio as a communication media in the battle of ideas was a subject dealt with in the first speech of the participants in the presentation ”La radio no tiene quien le escriba by radio producer Cecilia Mederos and the panelists Roxana Fuentes and Ivan Perez outstanding and multi awarded personalities of the radio dram.

After outlining and paraphrasing Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ book “El general no tiene quien le escriba’’, Cecilia Mederos presented an interesting literary-critic article on the role of scriptwriters and writers of our media, its difficulties and the troubles in the academic preparation and the conceptions of piece-work job.

Professor Mario Masvidal stated the lack of interest by student from Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) concerning the radioMario Masvidal Professor at the Higher Institute of Arts and program writer of Habana Radio intervened stimulated by the criteria discussed in Mederos’s thesis, he talked about the lack of interest of the students to address issues related the radio, its history and its current tendencies, as well as the vague dichotomy among the teachers about the role of radio as audio visual media and for public service.

Masvidal stated that the actual radio must be redimension the interchange ideas, in that sense the prestigious writer Caridad Martinez sought a greater focus on Social Communication and Audio Visual students and conciliate the interests of the new generations with the most experienced specialists and work with those interested in the radio to strengthen and ensure the future and continuity of a media that needs a new development not only in the structure but also its artistic conceptions.

Jose Hassan a fourth –year journalism student referred to the role the creative role of the radio, the vitality involves in the radio drama in the drama, informative and even sports programming. He warned about the role of social researchers whose reports and analysis must provide the daily work in the radio stations and the radio critics from the communicative processes that are present now in the radio spectrum.

It is time to change the paradigms expressed Erick Hernandez a radio producer from Sancti Spiritus and who is member of the jury of the radio festival. Similarly, the panelists Barbara Sanchez and Evania Mitjans stated the need to provide a more learned programming but also most demonstrative to the radio listener’s interests.

Delegates participating in the event of radio workers ended their day with a cultural evening at Velazco movie-theater where young figures showed the charms of Matanzas and its cultural potential, and a long-deserved tribute to Carilda Oliver Labra, an emblematic figure of the literary art in the Athens of Cuba.

Radio Festival today will open its theoretical sessions with the paper La informacion: una nueva plataforma hacia la Web by journalist Jorge Dominguez Morado from Cienfuegos and a meeting with the presidency of the Union of Cuban Journalists.
