Cuban Vice President Concludes Official Visit to China

Valdes Mesa began his tour in China with a meeting with the secretary of the Shanghai Party Standing Committee and Politburo member, Han Zheng.

Both sides acknowledged that the exchanges took place in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Cuba and China feel that achievements and progress in the construction of socialism worldwide, are their own achievements and successes. They also said that Beijing and Havana are both considered benchmarks and stimuli for socialism.

They reaffirmed their interest in continuing strengthening party ties, which represent one of the pillars of their bilateral relations and are based on a high level of agreements, mutual political trust and broad prospects for cooperation in different areas.

President Xi Jinping conveyed his cordial greetings and best wishes to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and the Army General and Cuban President, Raul Castro.

Valdes Mesa will today travel afternoon to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as part of his tour of the Asian socialist countries. There, he will also report on the results of the 7th PCC Congress.
