Cuba Denounces Subversive U.S. Radio and TV Aggression

The Cuban diplomat addressed the First Commission of the UN General Assembly on the advancements in the area of information and telecommunications in the context of international security.

Illegal U.S.radio and TV transmissions to Cuba do not carry real information, but false and/or distorted reports aimed at destabilization and subversion, while they affect the normal performance of radio-communications services and constitute a violation of international standards.

The U.S. anti-Cuba broadcasts used over 2,190 hours in transmissions to the island in 2011, on 30 different frequencies and from stations based in the United States, some of which are linked or offer their services to organizations involving terrorists who live in that country.

The diplomat said that the U.S. broadcasts encourage sabotage actions, assassination attempts against political leaders and other actions related to radio terrorism.
