Cuban Writer Wins Las Americas 2013 International Prize

 

He won the prize with the novel Bodegon con Manuela, la cofradia y la muerte, presented under the pen name of Randy Martin. It’s a Renaissance thriller set in the city of Cordoba, Andalusia, in 1608, when the first edition of Don Quixote was published. One of the novel’s attractions is precisely having Miguel de Cervantes as one of its characters.

Bodegon con Manuela… obtained the unanimous vote of the jury, in a contest aimed at  promoting new talents of Spanish American literature, with the sponsorship of the Solidarity Fund for Education and Culture, the Theater Center and the Pedro Henriquez Ureña National University of the Dominican Republic.
