CELAC: Building together from Latin America and the Caribbean

In the Pedregal Events Center in San Jose, the Heads of State will work on the construction of a new integration model that advocates unit area countries and respect for diversity.

It was also discovered that the Costa Rican government proposed the slogan of the Third Summit of CELAC: Building together and its central theme is the struggle against poverty.

Costa Rica reached the summit after a hard work for a year as president pro tempore of the CELAC, in which the holding of the meeting of leaders of China and Latin America and the Caribbean, Brazil, in July 2014 stands; and the First Ministerial Meeting of CELAC-China Forum in Beijing in early January.

In the citation for the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean, Luis Guillermo Solis, president of Costa Rica, be left to his Ecuadorian counterpart Rafael Correa as president pro tempore of the integration mechanism.

Meanwhile Granma newspaper reported that in these previous days when meetings of the National Coordinators and Foreign Ministers of CELAC are performed, the Final Declaration of the Summit is ready, the Action Plan and more than a dozen Special Declarations that, among other things, include the fight against terrorism, the post-2015 agenda, financing for development, solidarity with landlocked countries, climate change and small states island.

  • The consensus characterized early rounds of third summit of CELAC

The first working day of the third summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) develop in an atmosphere of consensus in the Costa Rican capital, organizers said.

The CELAC was founded in Caracas on 2 and 3 December 2011, year of the bicentenary of the independence of Venezuela and in tribute to the work of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.

The first summit was held on 27 and 28 January 2013 in Santiago de Chile, and the second, 28th and 29th of that month last year in Havana, Cuba.
