President Raul Castro receives His Holiness Kirill

After laying a wreath at Jose Marti, Cuba’s national hero, in the Memorial that bears his name in Havana, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church arrived at the headquarters of the State Council to hold official talks with Raul, who he received a firm handshake.

At the José Martí, the Primate recognized the work of Cuba in the preservation of historical memory and ideas of his heroes.

By signing the guestbook of José Martí Memorial, Kirill said he was impressed with the work of this group of specialists, as well as the depth and breadth of Marti’s ideas. We recognize the great work that heroes made to enter history and the people responsible for keeping them in force, stressed the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, adding that places like Memorial note the relevance of the ideas are still in today.

Kirill received from the director of the institution, Haydee Diaz, a plaque to it, and a book with photographs of Cuba.

In brief remarks at the Memorial, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia he said that preserving the memory of national heroes witness the great work they performed, and called to contribute to the story that continues to live in our contemporary times.
