Diaz-Canel in Jamaica for CARICOM meeting

The Cuban president, along Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez were received at the airport by the President of the Senate of Jamaica, the Honourable Thomas Tavares-Finson, who, minutes before the meeting, declared to the press that “Jamaica is very happy and proud” to welcome the President, especially on the occasion of the meeting of the leaders of the Caribbean community.

 
Tavares-Finson further stated that: “Jamaica and Cuba have a long history of friendly and cordial relations. This is, said the President of the Jamaican Senate, a relationship that dates back hundreds of years.
 
Cuba, he emphasized, is an integral part of Jamaica’s development, for the help and assistance it has provided to that country over the years in areas such as the development of medical services and education.
