Cuba and Russia sign joint declaration on international affairs

After signing the document, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the press that when discussing the global and regional agenda, they found that the views on most of the key issues were similar.

Mutual interest in continuing to coordinate our actions in the international arena was confirmed. Russia and Cuba have always advocated full compliance with the key principles of international law enshrined in the United Nations Charter, Putin said.

I am convinced that what we have agreed to today will encourage cooperation, the Russian leader stated.

He added being very excited about the modernization of the Cuban railway network, which will allow to increase the cargo and passengers flow.

In general, the Russian business world is willing to participate in the program of modernization of the Cuban economy, he noted.

Putin announced that his Cuban counterpart will discuss concrete projects with Russian businessmen in today’s session.

Rogelio Sierra, Cuba’s deputy foreign minister, posted on his official Twitter account that the Cuban president is already having a meeting with important Russian companies such as Rosneft, Zarubezhneft, Inter RAO UES, Haz Group and Kamaz.

Miguel Diaz-Canel invited the Russian president to visit the Caribbean island next year, and expressed the progress in bilateral strategic cooperation.
