He informed that until May 3, 176 children had been confirmed with SARS-CoV-2 since the beginning of the new coronavirus in Cuba, in practically all the provinces of the country, being Havana, with 52, and Villa Clara, with 28, the most representative ones.
Duran indicated that in the under-1-year-old group, 10 patients have been diagnosed, 25 in the 1-4-year-old group, 44 in the 5-9-year-old group, 48 in the 10-14-year-old group and 49 in the 15-18-year-old group.
He reminded that generally these are patients who maintain a favorable evolution, without complications, and so far there are no children reported in serious condition.
It is the population group with the best results in terms of recovery, but they can acquire the disease like any other person, and they must be protected, the expert warned.
