Cuban President congratulates Uneac on its 60th Anniversary

In these six decades -the President further wrote- UNEAC has become a space for the convergence of Cuba’s intelligentsia to promote a heterogeneous and generational dialogue among writers and artists, and it sets out new paths, adapting its work to the new times.

On August 20, the Cuban head of state participated in the official ceremony for the 60th anniversary of UNEAC, in which the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, the architect of its foundation, was honored.

Cuban parliament congratulates UNEAC on its 60th anniversary

President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo, congratulated the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) on its 60th anniversary on Sunday.

In a letter addressed to UNEAC President Luis Morlote, Lazo said that some of its deputies have always been the most renowned Cuban writers and artists.

He said that the patriotic commitment of the artistic and literary avant-garde has full relevance, ‘when the enemies of those dreams insist on fragmenting society, sowing confusion, breaking the dialogue with creators and eroding our culture as an expression of the national sentiment.’

In his letter, Lazo extended the parliament’s acknowledgement for the work of the leaders and members of that organization, who, he pointed out, contribute to reducing the physical and spiritual effects of the pandemic and the US blockade against Cuba.
