Cuba and the European Union note progress in bilateral ties

Cuban and European diplomats celebrated the fifth anniversary of the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (ADPC) between Cuba and the European Union (EU).

At the meeting, progress was noted in the ties between Cuba and the EU, on the basis of equality, reciprocity, common interest, and mutual respect, as well as the sovereignty of the parties, all principles of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, said the head of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez.

Cuba and the EU re-launched their relations in 2016 with the signing of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement that put an end to 20 years of the so-called common position, which conditioned the EU bloc’s relations to demands that Cuba considered unacceptable.

The agreement allowed for increased cooperation and generated opportunities for exchanges on issues of mutual interest.
